Event Comment: MMr Barbandt's Third and Last Subscription Oratorio. [Pope's poem set by Charles Barbandt in two parts, with solos interspersed: violin, flute, Lute, Frenchhorn, hautboy, and Organ.] Books of the Oratorio stitch'd in blue paper at 1s. each sold at Mrs Browne's in the Haymarket

Event Comment: Benefit for Bransby and Miss Young. British Chronicle, 16 April 1760: Died the celebrated Charlotte Charke in the Haymarket, daughter of Colley Cibber, Esq, poet laureate-a gentlewoman remarkable for her adventures and misfortunes

Event Comment: The Twenty-Fourth Day. This being the last fortnight of Foote's playing at the Haymarket, the company will perform every night

Event Comment: During the short time of the Fair, at a large Commodious Booth at the bottom of the Bowling Green. Boxes 2s. 6d. Pit 2s. 6d. First Gallery 1s. Upper Gallery 6d. The Company chose to wave [sic] the usual pompous and bombastic stuff generally crowded into Advertisements on these occasions. They early beg leave to say, that they humbly presume, their having been at an uncommon expence, care, and trouble in getting up this comedy, will entitle them to some degree of preference and encouragement above those paltry performances usually exhibited at Fairs. [But see the puff on 19Sept.

Event Comment: [The following puff appeared in the Public Advertiser: "Yesterday about twelve the Races began on the Bowling Green, Southwark. There were several started for the Plate called Public Approbation, amongst the Rest was a celebrated Theatrical Horse, and two or Three Racers belonging to the same Stable, and some young Colts and Fillies, lately bred in the Stud of an eminent Sportsman in the Haymarket. The dispute laid principally between the noted Don Quixote and the Little Female Minor. The contest was warm, and several Heats were ran [a number of performances during the day?] before it could be decided; which at length was given by a small Majority of the Subscribers and the Clerk of the Course, in favor of the latter. However, her Antagonists being Bloed, they have challenged her to run again, play or pay, for three Days sucessively; and she will start This Day, tomorrow and Monday next, exactly at Twelve. Bets are laid, the Little Minor against the Field; and Eight to Six that in the end she distances the famous Old Horse, and beats him absolutely hollow."

Event Comment: MMr Foote's Oratorical Lectures will be continued in the New Theatre in the Haymarket this day, between Twelve and One noon. [In six parts]: 1. Oratory in general, 2. Its utility demonstrated from its universality, 3. Distinct species of oratory, 4. The present practice peculiar to the English, 5. Necessity of an Academy, 6. The propriety of appointing the author perpetual professor. The whole to be illustrated in apt instances by a set of pupils long trained to the art, one of which is amazing proof of the force of Genius when properly cultivated (Public Advertiser). [These lectures were given 36 times and referred thereafter this season as The Orators.

Event Comment: This Week a Patent passed the Great Seal for the Establishment of a new Theatre, to Samuel Foote, Esq. only (Public Advertiser, London notes, p. 2, col. 3). Mr Barry and Mrs Dancer from Dublin are said to be engaged for this summer at the Theatre Royal in the Haymarket (Gazetteer and New Daily Advertiser, London notes, p. 2, col. 2, which corroborates the Foote patent)

Event Comment: At Panton St., Haymarket. By the Italian Fantocini of Carlo Perico. This piece of the Italian theatre is in three acts, and decorated with many agreeable changes of brilliant scenery; in which Harlequin is to eat a Dish of Maccoroni. With a Large Addition of new Metamorphoses. [This ran for considerable time, and will not be noted further.

Event Comment: By Permission for one Night only. Benefit for Johnson. This Play will not be repeated at the Haymarket this Season, as it is a particular Act of Indulgence that it is suffered to be performed there this Evening (Public Advertiser)
