The theatre is described as seeming "exceptionally small, but it is very prettily painted in blue and white; the boxes, as in Paris, are open and everything is well lit." In 3rd piece "A twelve-year-old girl dressed as a poor boy who walks around with a bundle of rushes, straw and reeds to patch up old chairs, then really sits down to work on one, sang and played unusually well; indeed, was obliged to give two encores; the third time, however, announced with dignity and candour that it would not be possible, and that she feared she might be unable to take her part the next day; which would grieve her excessively, as she liked having her modest talents appreciated and applauded. Event Comment: Charles II entered London on this day, an event which occasioned several works of a quasi-dramatic nature. One was The Famous Tragedie of the Life and Death of Mrs Rump...As it was presented on a burning Stage at Westminster the 29th of May, 1660. It has a Prologue and Epilogue; the author is not known. A second is An Ode Upon the Happy Return of King Charles II to his Languishing Nations, May 29. 1660. This work, by James Shirley, with music by Dr Coleman, was printed in 1660, and reprinted in A Little Ark, ed. G. Thorn-Drury (1921), pp. 21-23. A third is A True Relation of the Reception of his Majestie and Conducting him through the City of London...on Tuesday the 29 of this instant May, being the Day of his Majesties Birth

Event Comment: Pepys, Diary: We met with Mr Salisbury, who took Mr Creed and me to the cockpitt to see The Moore of Venice, which was well done. Burt acted the Moore; by the same token, a very pretty lady that sat by me, called out, to see Desdemona smothered. Possibly Clun acted Iago.
