[See 9 Jan. 1764.] [Hereafter Lewes' name appears as Lee Lewes in the bills, apparently so he would not be confused with Lewis. Earlier (1769) his name appears in the Account Books as Le-Lewes seemingly to avoid confusion with another Lewis in the company at the time.

"If Macklin once loses the Catch Word he is gone irretrievably." At the end of the 3rd act, at half price, some apprentices coming into the pit talked so loudly that "Macklin stopped; he lost himself. ...
