Irish features, yet had something in her face and person necessarily attracting notice--was very civil, curteous, and chatty (Baker, Diary, p. 270). [Pol. My feelings were weakened and confounded by the band, my voice lost its scale, and was overpowered by the music in the orchestra" (Ireland, p. 47).
