Event Comment: PPublic Advertiser: Mr Vanneschi begs leave to inform the Nobility and Gentry, that a Licence being granted to him from the Lord Chamberlain's office, with his Majesty's most gracious Approbation, for exhibiting Italian operas at the King's Theatre in the Haymarket, Subscriptions for the ensuing Season will be taken in by Mess. Drummond and Co., Bankers at Charing Cross. He humbly desires his Protectors and Subscribers, to oblige him with an early Payment of their Subscription Money, in order that he may be able to give the necessary Securities to Sga Colomba Mattei, and to Sg Pasquale Potenza, as also to the Rest of his Singers and Dancers. It being given out that Mr Vanneschi hath not engaged the Use of the Opera House for the ensuing Season of Operas, it is hereby certified, that the Proprietor thereof hath agreed with Mr Vanneschi for the same. A New Opera [composed by Gluck; text by F. Vanneschi]. The Subscribers to the Opera are desired to make the last Payment of their Subscription Money to the Treasurer, at the Opera Office in the Haymarket, where Attendance will be given this and every Day, from Ten till Two, to receive the same, and deliver out the Silver Tickets. [Repeated until 28 Jan.] The new Musical Italian Drama; entitled La Caduta de Giganti, or the Fall of the Giants, writ on Occasion of the expulsion of the Rebels, was perform'd last Night at King's Theatre in the Haymarket. Event Comment: A new Opera. [But not performed.] 'Twas with inexpressible Concern that Mr Vanneschi found the Nobility and Gentry disappointed last Night, by the new Opera's not being then performed; a circumstance wholly owing to Sig Ricciarelli's being, on a sudden, taken extremely ill Yesterday, at an hour too late for its being made known to the Public (Public Advertiser, 11 Feb.)

Event Comment: A New Opera. The Musick by Sig Baldassare Galuppi. [Mingotti had been advertising for subscriptions for next season but now Vanneschi announces that he was secured the licence for next year from the Lord Chamberlain and he is the new Director of the operas (Daily Advertiser).
